SYNOPSIS:
“The Habsburgs – Rise and Fall of a European Dynasty” is a journey through the most beautiful cultural landscapes of Central Europe, from France to Switzerland to Italy, from Germany to the Czech Republic, Hungary and Austria. It connects individual historical sites that are closely related to the House of Habsburg-Lothringen and makes it possible to experience the common cultural heritage of a region spanning many borders. New perspectives allow visitors to rediscover the 800-year eventful and exciting history of this European noble family, which has left a lasting mark on the history of Europe. The House of Habsburg was one of the most influential dynasties and a central shaper of European history for centuries. No other noble family was more powerful over the long term than the Habsburgs. As elected emperors and kings of the Holy Roman Empire, they not only stood geographically at the centre of Europe, but also exerted great influence on its political, economic and cultural history. Over the centuries, they created a multi-ethnic empire that was second to none. After the turmoil of the First World War, the Habsburg Empire disappeared. What remained, however, were connections that have survived the test of time. It is important to trace these connections and the exciting stories behind them.
