SYNOPSIS:
The series “The Waterworld of Komodo” takes the viewer on an extraordinary voyage to one of the most beautiful places on earth. Over the course of millions of years, the archipelago around the island of Komodo, has been shaped by the forces of nature and the mechanisms of evolution. Thanks to its isolation we are still able to stand face to face with works of nature which do not exist anywhere else on earth. On land, the legendary dragons reign undisputedly, whilst under the water, strong currents surge through the coral reefs which are teeming with life. The underwater world is ruled by sharks and the majestic Manta Rays. Each of the 5 episodes concentrates on showing both of these worlds as well as the laws which govern here. The series allows the viewer to dive into this unique ecosystem and discover a region where destructive volcanoes have periodically disrupted the order of the world. Not only do the producers reveal the secrets of wildlife, but they also build the viewers’ awareness in the context of the common existence of all life on the blue planet. “The Waterworld of Komodo” is an amazing journey which leads to questions about the place of man on earth. Each episode has a main theme. Komodo dragons, manta rays or sharks are shown in their natural environment. However, the authors do not only focus on the hero of the episode, but also on the conditions in which it lives, as well as on other inhabitants which live alongside in its ecosystem. The film also shows people who live as co-inhabitants as well as the influence man and nature have on each other.
